But even after Blizzard fulfills its promised release, the game studio should endeavor to refine and update Overwatch 2's PVE content just as much as its popular PVP modes.

The second part is the aforementioned PVE content that will launch sometime this 2023. The developers may have added new heroes, maps, and modes, but it is still very much the same Overwatch experience players know, albeit now adopting a free-to-play system.

The first part, which was released last October 2022, focuses on the franchise's tried-and-true PVP hero shooter experience. To this end, Blizzard decided to split Overwatch 2 into two distinct parts. Because even though Overwatch's characters and futuristic Earth were well-established by the original creators thanks to the initial game and multimedia (with the Overwatch animated shorts deserving special mention), not much took place in this world that needs more heroes. A completely separate experience from the game's PVP modes, Overwatch 2's PVE modes are supposed to deliver narratives that continue the lore set by the first Overwatch. With 2023 now in full swing, Activision Blizzard should start feeling the pressure to deliver on its promised PVE content for Overwatch 2.
